If you have a 2G phone, then you’ll need to upgrade to a 3G- or 4G-enabled phone before 3 April 2017 to stay with Vaya. There are three mobile networks in Australia, run by Optus, Telstra and Vodafone. All have or are in the process of shutting down their 2G networks, so you’ll need a handset that’s at least 3G enabled to continue as a customer of any Australian telecommunications provider within 12 months.
